The lock sensor operates via a magnetic strip attached to the drum. When the lock is closed, the sensor is in contact with this magnetic strip. As soon as the drum is opened beyond a certain distance, the lock sensor loses contact with the magnetic strip. The software registers this as a successful deposit.

This way, the system knows exactly when the container has been opened and used.
